BSN was recently formed by the State Information Center of China, China Mobile, China Unionpay, and Red Date Technologies. The goal of this consortium is to build an infrastructure that will lower the barriers to entry for blockchain technology.

Blockchain was too expensive
Yifan He, CEO of Red Date Technology and co-founder of BSN, told Cointelegraph that when his company began experimenting with blockchain technology, he was excited about the new capabilities it allowed, but was appalled at how expensive it was:
„We really saw the Internet upgrade to the distributed way of transmitting data. So we really liked the technology. But, at the same time, we thought it was too expensive because just to create the environment, set up the framework, and build the nodes, it costs almost half a million yuan to set up the project.

Chainlink was not the number one choice
Initially, Chianlink was not BSN’s number one choice, it was second on the list of potential providers of oralized data. However, it says they were influenced by the strength of the community and the Chainlink team:
„We looked at the first four on the list, Chainlink was not number one. It was number two. But we saw that Chainlink has the best community, the best support. […] Plus, we really liked the team.“
